Jamie Foxx – Digital Girl (Remix) ft. The Dream, Kanye West & Drake

The original has been around for a while, taken from Jamie Foxx’s new album ‘Intuition’, it is a good song but it had no real buzz, so what better than to get the most talked about artist of the moment on the track and release it as a single. Enter Drake, the Toronto born actor turned rapper has a surreal hype surrounding him, with major labels locked into a bidding war for his signature, Jay-Z referred to his So Far Gone mixtape as the best of all time, Kanye West is directing his new video, he is part of Lil’ Wayne’s Young Money, he has already worked with Jay and will feature on Mary J Blige’s new single, so it is fair to say that Drake is pretty much the hottest rapper at the moment.

With all that weight on his shoulders, Drake displays his confidence, knowing why he has been asked to feature on the track and he does not disappoint, concept, flow and lyrics, adding the singing into his verse, it is a trademark Drake verse and like the others, it is a good one.

I like the concept, it has been done before by the likes of R. Kelly and Usher, but none the less, it does not interfere with Digital Girl, it grows on you the more you hear it, it is a really good collaboration.

Kanye West has gone from soulful Hip-Hop producer to Global Superstar, there are a few artists in the world of his caliber, so a clever, witty rhyme with a catchy flow are expected, Kanye’s verse is a good balance with Drake’s, it fuses nicely as The Dream and Jamie Foxx take up the singing duties, to have four stars on one track does not always guarantee a hit but I think Jamie Foxx has one with this effort.

Fáris Rating:
8/10

Young Money – Every Girl

After claiming 2008 as his own, The phenomenon that is Lil’ Wayne returns, this time to put his Young Money affiliates under that constant spotlight that the Carter III has helped place upon him.

Introducing Drake (a serious contender for future superstar), Jae Millz (reaping the benefits of his grind), Gudda and Wayne’s long-standing friend and business partner Mack Maine.

The song itself is created to gain attention, to help the transition of these artists under Lil’ Waynes Young Money label, the use of auto tune is higher among the other artists in a bid to have them stand out and have identity of their own, it is more a feel good, light-hearted track which no doubt is the ear opener for some realness that will follow as a Young Money group album is said to be on the way (to be released the same day as Wayne’s rock album ‘Rebirth’).

I think this is a good track for the reason it was made, every artist is given a chance to shine and they all did the job, it will most definitely promote Young Money as more than just what Lil’ Wayne says before a track, the label possesses a talented roster and will not get the same attention anywhere else but with Young Money.

I guess it really is “Young Moula baby!!”

Something BRAND NEW from Trey Songz

Trey Songz has not had the kind of success that was expected of him when he first came in onto the scene, but that does not mean he has not been successful, an undeniable talent, Trey returns with his third album READY.

The first release from READY is Brand New, which shows Trey and his swagger on point.

The track is actually catchy, it is clear that the ladies are in his sights as he goes in on this one.

Video, features live footage from a recent performance so expect cameos from Jim Jones, Fat Joe, Shawty Lo, Angel Love, Drake, B. Cox and Young Jeezy, It’s more of a promotional single and actually creates the buzz he needs as he prepares to unleash his new album.
