FDM

FDM, better known in the UK as Fun*dmental 03 were pretty much our version of B2K, consisting of Varren, Kyle and Jermaine, the group rose to prominence quite quickly, however recently not much had been heard, many felt that they were no longer performing, that is not quite the case, they are indeed patiently developing their brand after being signed to a major label in the states ‘Geffen Records’ (home to Mary J Blige and Wale to name a few) in conjunction with Ne-Yo’s label ‘Compound’.

A favourite of mine, Playground:

check this video out, they go to the Geffen exec to display their ability, amazing:

Seeing all this is great for me, I was just a kid listening to their tracks, watching their videos on TV, I was a fan without a doubt, their ability was so evident, they have personality, talent and the desire to do this.

Well done Geffen records for recognizing the ability and giving them the chance, and Good Luck to the boys, Compound (Ne-Yo’s label) and Da Works, their talent and hard work should ensure a bright future.

I did not even know that there was a video for this, another favourite, produced by Music Kidz (Shout out to Shabz & K1)

50 Cent – Touch Me

I only gave this song a listen out of curiosity and to be honest, I am impressed, 50 Cent has not had the same impact since his debut Get Rich or Die Tryin’, he has been consistently succesful with his releases, however, the music lacked the same appeal, him as an artist (similar to Eminem) was not satisfying the real fans (who continue to grow tired of commercial music). His (free download) mixtape ‘War Angel’ offered audiences more of old school 50 cent, with the flow, content and feel of the record similar to his debut, he follows that with the new mixtape ‘Forever King’ (Click here to download Forever King FREE).

Touch Me:

Taken from ‘Forever King’, Touch Me samples the classic ‘Touch Me, Tease Me by Case featuring Foxy Brown & Mary J. Blige. 50 Cent’s delivery on this is what impressed me, it just sounds so ‘raw’, his flow is consistent but without being boring, this sounds like the Get Rich or Die Tryin’ 50 Cent! Keeping Foxy Brown’s verse adds to the classic feel, with Case’s bridge and Mary J. Blige on the chorus, 50 manages to pull this version off well.

For a mixtape track..this is good, 50 Cent has a point to prove and cuts like Touch Me should help him prove it.

T.I. – Remember Me ft. Mary J. Blige

As the ‘King of the South’ starts his ‘Year and a day’ jail sentence, he leaves us with this anthem featuring none other than Mary J. Blige.

Produced by Polow Da Don (Usher – Love in This Club), this inspirational mid-tempo track provides T.I. with the perfect canvas to paint his lyrical picture as the Grand Hustle rapper vents some feelings regarding his own situation whilst inspiring others to stand strong regardless of how strong the negative winds in our lives are. Featuring Mary J. Blige, who commands the chorus like nobody else, the only other person that could have done it is Mariah Carey, however, with Mary you have a far more urban edge as well as that mainstream appeal.

It is a shame that one of the best artists is having to be locked up for a year, but I’m in no doubt that it will only lead to what might just be the best album of his career for T.I. when he returns. In the mean time he has another hit to add to his already large catalogue. Remember Me is a classic sounding song, with a real meaning from one of the realest artists who will be missed).
