WizzyWow & Tippaly present: Baileys & Passports

As the new year comes ever so closer, the spacey hitmaker Mr WizzyWow and his partner in rhyme Tippaly have decided to unleash the long awaited mixtape earlier than scheduled.

In all honesty this download is so fresh that I am still listening to it as I type,
the intro is not just for the mixtape, but an introduction for Tippaly, who makes the most of the opportunity with his unique style, he has a stand out voice and with his own range of wordplay he makes an impression, Wizzy wow steps up for Blame It On The Baileys, setting the scene and overall concept of this mixtape.
Hottest In The Hood has them flowing over the beat like only they can, it serves as a starter for your ears before the infectious Hands In The Air, where the duo go back and forth with lyrics and plenty of that Space Boy swagger all over the beat.
Run This Town brings you back down to Earth as they both have a verse each allowing you to distinguish their styles and approach before Tippaly goes solo over Let The Beat Build, this track is the boarding lounge before the take off which is Wizzy Wow – Eyes On Me ft. Tips, now flying at a comfortably high altitude with Miss London, Wizzy’s trademark flow and hook over a nicely layered beat, complete with synths.

Throw It In The Bag must have been a favoured instrumental because Tippaly displays a lyrical ability that you may not have known he possessed and then just when you feel you’ve heard the best, Wizzy Wow matches the flow and lyricism for an overall ‘dope’ UK take on the Fabolous & Drake track. Next track is Pop Music, which is not actually what the track says, however it is WizzyWow’s version of the genre, take it as a glimpse into what to expect, the synth-based chart sound from the North London producer, now the flight has to land at some point and Wizz jumps on the Maybach Music 2 beat, Rick Ross and Justice League made a classic, the man formerly known as Y.Wizz does not dissapoint, the next track is Tippaly taking stage on the powerful Lemme Get On Ya, so far the mixtape is fully focused on the concept and it is a good listen with its variation of styles, this is proven with the next track, WizzyWow over The Dream’s Rockin’ That instrumental, it feels like an interlude before the next track Can’t Beleive It, giving up the autotune, Wizzy gets his rap game on alongside Tippaly, they both flow over the beat with a motion that can only be described as ocean cool (they get wavey).

The concept and theme is female orientated, so it is only right to give them a little more with Valentines, the slow paced smooth talk song before they put their spin on Dirty Money’s Love Come Down beat (put your speakers up for this one)..They really go for it with this, a consistent flow and slick content makes this one of the stand out tracks off the mixtape especially as it features Cell22 and one of the most underrated artists in the game..North London’s Calibar.
Say Something serves as an outro, nicely done as well, featuring Ivy London, they put some space age flavour onto Timbaland’s instrumental, each one does not dissapoint and it nicely brings the mixtape to an end but by now you would have already pressed play on track 1 again.

Clipse – Popular Demand (Popeye’s) ft. Pharrell & Cam’ron

CLIPSE2

The much hyped collaboration finally leaks, since some information regarding tracklisting for their upcoming album ‘Til The Casket Drops’ had surfaced on the internet, there was a lot of interest in this one (even though there was a Kanye West collabo too), after Kinda Like A Big Deal ft. Kanye West was released, Popeye’s was all that people could talk about.

Dipset general Cam’ron had turned down the chance to work with the Clipse before, when invited to feature on the remix for their anthem ‘Grindin’, however now seems to be the time, many may expect a lot more, but I think the real Hip-Hop (or general Clipse/Cam’ron) fan will appreciate this for it’s classic rap feel.

[Youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zwEfmJqoFo&NR=1]

Produced by The Neptunes and featuring a hook from Pharrell Williams, this track was created especially for this concept, The Neptunes have always known how to bring the best out of the Clipse, even though they are capable to shine just as well on a Justice League, Timbaland or Kanye West beat (I beleive Pusha T is one of the few emcees that could hold his own on a Dr Dre beat), there is a present chemistry between the two and this is obviously evident with this. So, once again the Clipse have not dissapointed, ‘fly-talk’, slick word-play, they possess it all and bring it to the table with this, an extra-dimension is offered with the feature provided by Cam’ron, “I’m Pharrell (for real) with the Clipse (clips)”, is one of the lines as he provides a classic Killa Cam flow, his presence is felt on the track and helps round this record up with the appeal of a classic song.

The Clipse’s third album ‘Til The Casket Drops’ is tipped to be another classic, with features from Keri Hilson, Kanye West & more, expect more anthems from Clipse and the whole Re-Up gang.

Gucci Mane – Street Cred ft. DJ Drama, Drake & Killer Mike

Well well well, hot off the press, comes the answer to who this track will belong to, seems like Gucci Mane gets this monstrous offering from Timbaland, it is from a mixtape so I do not know if it is official or not, however seems so to be Gucci Mane’s at the moment.

I am not too sure about this, I prefer hearing the solo Drake version, despite it being short, I like Killer Mike, so it is not all bad and Gucci Mane currently has quite the hype, however I honestly feel that this beat if restricted to just a mixtape has not been served justice, if anything new comes up regarding this beat, be sure that OneFaris will bring it to you.

Timbaland – King Leon ft. Drake

With new leaks from Timbaland’s camp, it is rumoured that these tracks are from Timbaland’s upcoming project. As a Timbaland fan, I have been looking forward to hear his new sound, he emerged in dominant fashion with his last surge of hits with Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake and Madonna, however since then he was quiet, only for his production contribution towards Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3, tracks such as Off That ft. Drake and Venus & Mars showed some promise, a lot of the original Timbaland fans began to hope that he is back to changing the game again, even I hoped, until I heard this snippet:

Sounding like a classic Timbaland, back to doing what he does best, the clever thing about this production is the use of sounds, the organs happen to be the same sounds used for Madonna’s 4 minutes ft. Justin Timberlake. It is the kind of beat to put fear into other producers, the kind of production that will inspire how most of the songs will sound, as many attempt to emulate. Toronto’s Drake had worked with Timbo for Jay-Z’s album already, but he only featured on the chorus, so this snippet is an exclusive to the industry, Drake seems to do no wrong at the moment, this is one of my favourite tracks from him already and I have not even heard it all.

Here are the other leaks:

I like it, but more for concept that production, two artists of such status should create better, good but not great.

It is different, more catering his Pop audience, I am hoping that these leaks are to generate interest and that there is more to come, I am not in anyway saying that they are bad, I just personally feel that he can do a lot better.

Who knows, with time, I may have one of these on repeat.

Chris Brown – Not My Fault

I have always been one to put Artists’ private lives separate from their music, R. Kelly went into overdrive with his music after accusations of him and an underage girl surfaced, I applauded his work, same goes for Akon, Michael Jackson (RIP) and even George Michael, the Music is what matters to me. So, on that note, it is only fair that Chris Brown is given a chance, I don’t condone hitting a female at all, however I am in no position to judge, so music it is.

Produced by the Neptunes (Pharrell Williams & Chad Hugo) and featuring Pharrell himself, Not My Fault leaked out as Chris Brown attempts a come-back. The song is not bad, if anyone could resurrect Chris Breezy’s career then it is Pharrell, Rumours have circulated that Pharrell and fellow Virgina native and super-producer Timbaland are set to join forces, creating a record label even named ‘Two Up, Two Down’ to launch a Virgina artist, Chris Brown is from Virgina and often makes two V’s and is heard saying, “Two Up, Two Down”,

Listen at 03:26:

Nothing is concrete apart from the fact that Chris Brown is planning his re-arrival onto the scene.

‘Not My Fault’ is not a bad way to come back, it will take more but this would serve as a good album track, it would pass off as a prosperous single (if accompanied by a good video). The production aspect of Not My Fault is a typical Neptune’s sound in all honesty, similarities to some of the Neptune’s previous work with Usher are evident, which is not entirely a bad thing. Use of digital sounds blended with live percussion gives the song an edge, the layers and their varying sounds really give the song its direction which Chris Brown nicely harmonizes with. I’m looking forward to hearing more from Chris Brown as he attempts a return, Not My Fault shows that there is hope for the young star.
