BIGZ – STARMAN

Since the release of the Flight Of The Navigator, Bigz has found himself in new heights as far as his credibility, FOTN was justification that the rapper deserved all the praise he receives (if not more).

Continuing on that success, his “royal flyness” brings you, STARMAN (EP).
10 solid tracks to further cement his place among the best.

STARMAN:

An emphatic intro to the EP, Starman has Bigz displaying the wordplay and flow with variety, switching up the flow beyond expectations as the verses progress, definitely a stand out on the project.

I JUST WANT THE PAPER:

This track has been receiving a lot of love from the listeners, the kind of beat that you cannot help but nod your head along to (or even get up and 2-step), with the Flygerian leader back on his fly talk, using an aptly chosen Biggie sample, this track creates a certain vibe that only the flyest will feel.

SLEEPING SATELLITES ft. WRETCH32 & SWAY:

Another stand out track, Sleeping Satellites is where Bigz holds his own against two of the best rappers in the country, on a deeper and more personal tone, the three artists add a contrast with their unique styles.
This track adds diversity and allows Bigz to show his ability via a different retrospective.

STARMAN is quite the offering as it is a FREE download, featuring G-FrSH, Wretch32, Sway, Selah, Baby Blue & more, consider this a Thank You for all the support he has been getting of late. Many people can argue all they want..but when it comes to ability and craft in regards to music, Bigz is one of the best.

Dice FrSH – Gucci Belt ft. G-FrSH

Although many have not heard of Dice FrSH, this tune will definitely change that, featuring G-FrSH and produced by UK’s soon to be superproducer Wizzy Wow, Gucci Belt is set to take the lavish trend to a whole new level with everyone wanting to get themselves a Gucci Belt to rock to this.

Dice FrSH brags effortlessly over this Wizzy Wow banger, the beat consists of a Indian tabla-sounding drum, cleverly aligned with a consistent rimshot smothered by the intense synth pattern, an almost signature from the North London producer. Dice goes in, although the title suggests differently, this track is more than just a dedication to a belt, it is the track for the lifestyle. What I like best about Gucci Belt is the fact that you do not know what to expect, the beat is unique, Dice’s voice sounds new to ear which is always refreshing when it comes to music and G-FrSH’s flow was so unexpected, yet good, he always seems to impress me even more everytime i hear him.

Gucci Belt, along with the soon to come video, will be a big track for the summer, with many underground tracks considered negative and encouraging violence, this is proof that it is not the case, this is an underground club smash!!

Tinie Tempah – Pass Out (Official Video)

Tinie Tempah kicks off his Parlophone debut with this new video for the anthem, Pass Out.

Pass Out looks more like a taster for what is expected to come from the new major label signee, Tinie Tempah has put in a lot of work for this moment right here, so it is only fair for him to be the focus of this video, complete with special effects and a host of cameos from the likes of Skepta, JME, G-FrSH & Wretch32.

Produced by up and coming producer ‘Labrynth’ (who features in the video), the record is ‘different’ to say the least, more than anything I love the fact that this record is so unique and distinct yet still so successful, it is actually unpolished and raw, which is why so many people both underground and commercially are taking to it, this is a clear example of why following the generic sounds of modern music is not always a good thing, it may lead to a quick success, however, in regards to music, creativity and individuality is always a plus point, definitely a breakthrough track, one that will help put both Tinie Tempah & Labrynth in further spotlight as their careers continue to flourish.

It is definitely a new step for Tinie, but he seems more than ready, expect more big things to come from Tinie Tempah and Parlophone/EMI in 2010.

G-FrSH – Tears

Brand New OneFaris EXCLUSIVE:

Exclusively for the OneFaris readers, this latest offering from G-FrSH:

A more personal record, Tears has G-FrSH displays his poetical ability, I say poetical and not lyrical as some of the things said are truely poetry, this was a side to G-FrSH that not many have been exposed to, not to take the concept personally but rather admire his creativity and evident ability within his craft.

“I couldn’t forget you if I tried, ‘cos even if I died, I’d have a place in hell..where I could see your angel eyes”, starting with such a line is a big risk, unless you happen to be as gifted as G-FrSH…who puts words together better than carol vorderman (think about that one) and with the countdown (make sense now?) to his Legoman mixtape soon approaching, this is a taster of what to expect. If you look at all his past videos to date, you will see the quality, therefore expect another big video for this record (the images used for the video above are stills taken at the official video shoot).

The track also features Bluey Robinson, who obviously does not dissapoint, however it is a feature and therefore people should not expect to hear too much of him on the collaboration. 2009 has been a great year for G-FrSH who has risen through the ranks thanks to his undeniable talent but also his high work rate and consistency, so expect even bigger things from FrSH entertainment in 2010.

Mark Henry – FLYGERIAN ft. G-FrSH, Tinie Tempah, Bigz & Dotstar

This should be the Nigerian national team’s track when they walk out onto the peach of any game, they should definitely listen to this in the changing rooms, they will not need any encouragement, the feeling of this song would do it all.

Mark Henry has been in the scene for a while, respected for his abilities, he was at times shadowing fellow emcee Sincere, however of late the two have been a tag-team in the industry and raising their status, Mark Henry steps into the spotlight for this one, displaying the reasons he is regarded as one of the best emcees, he enlists the help of G-FrSH for that extra dimension, a star in his own right, G-FrSH has proved that he is one of, if not the best entrepeneur, this year he has proved he is also one of the best rappers, Tinie Tempah (now a Major recording artist) takes the track somewhere else, he is the perfect example of variation, he provides his fast flow and witty lyrics setting up the flamboyant Bigz, who just unleashes his Nigerian passion onto the beat, the beat itself (which is co-produced by Mark Henry) is extremely catchy, fusing a modern and traditional sounds, it is done well, and even if you’re not Nigerian you cannot help but to like this. Flygerian also features mr ransom himself, the young Dotstar aka Lagos Boy, who provides a verse for the younger audience, this offers the track as a whole a lot of diversity and range, I was dissapointed that the original casting was not kept, which had SAS in place of Dotstar, but maybe the song would have too long, either way, this is a unifying classic, with an entertaining video, directed by Jak FrSH, capturing their modern lifestyles with their traditional values, the eagle is an immense addition, an overall great offering.

Frontlinerz – Can’t Do It Like

After the success of their anthem Down, Frontlinerz continued to push their style of music, what many people did not know is that they are pioneers in allowing other artists after to come through, they were one of the first underground artists, recent situations forced them to sit back but Jak Frost and Receiver have returned to the frontline with Can’t Do It Like:

The video, which is currently being seen a lot on the UK’s premier urban channel ‘Channel AKA’ (formerly known as Channel U) is like a sequel to Down, it is their arrival once again, setting the scene before the extravagant Stack Money ft. G-FrSH is unveiled.

Can’t Do It Like has grown on me, it has a classic UK feel to it, it is mid-tempo, they sound hungry, determined to succeed, Having listened to the new mixtape, you can feel their ambition, but what I like best about Frontlinerz is (apart from being real) the chemistry on record, by which I mean you have Receiver (who made a cameo in the current Batman movie ‘The Dark Knight’) with his laid back flow, his calm yet sturdy approach is balanced well by Jak Frost who is more vicious on the mic, you will like him even if he has to force you, it is that approach which we first encountered with 50 Cent, I know the two emcees are different, but their effect is similar, Jak Frost lyrically is raw to an extreme, laced with Receivers smooth tone which smoothens Jak Frosts’ rough delivery, Can’t Do It Like is the intro for their imminent take over.

G – FrSH – URGH (Official Video)

This is pretty much the UK equivalent to Clipse – Grindin’ in terms of the beat and concept, The way Clipse fit to a Neptunes beat (With Pharrell knowing how to bring the best out of them), likewise Thy Maryan creates the perfect platform for G-FrSH to preach from.

‘URGH’ can only be described with words like ‘dope’, ‘gully’, ‘grimey’, ‘heavy’ and so on. It is a crazy piece of production from who else but Thy Maryan (Wretch 32 – Superhero), This beat is so good that its difficult to describe it, the feeling and vibe it gives off, it’s a ‘dark’ beat, but possesses moments of light which constrast well, the beat tells a story itself with G-FrSH adding more colour and flair to the composition.

At the moment G-FrSH (who has always been a favourite of mine) is my artist of the moment, the lyrics, style and flow combined produce smart and entertaining rhymes, “When They See Me They Applaud Me, Cos’ I’m About My Paper Like Trees..So Real N****s Root For Me“.

As for the video, I had seen a couple images which i assumed where from a photoshoot, but the video is honestly amazing, I really respect FrSH entertainment for the quality they produce, this video represents the beat so well, the cut out affects, the way G-Frsh is walking down is actually showing him walking to the video shoot, as in he really lives what you see, the visual effects compliment the video, it is artistic without going over the top, it is a really well done video.

G-FrSH is not just your regular rapper, he is a business man, a mastermind behind the successful FrSH enterprise, with his own company and clothing line, a talented artist and above all an inspiration for many.

Thy Maryan – Energize

I am excited to present this one to you, this is the official place to hear the exclusive ‘Energize’, Thy Maryan is an up and coming producer, most known for producing for G-FrSH (tracks such as Do It and Urgh).

As artists struggle to breakthrough in this country, we forget that producers too face similar difficulties, seriously a producer of Thy Maryan’s ability should be far more in demand and recognizable than he currently is, his versatility means his level of creativity has no boundaries, all his songs will not sound the same, but one thing is for sure..they will sound good.

Energize, an up-tempo number, with chart climbing potential, Thy’s arrangement of the pacey melody blends nicely with the varying beat pattern, these variations help keep the track flowing (allowing this kind of variation prevents the track from becoming repetative), as the focus remains on Thy Maryan it would not be fair to comment on the vocals, although I will bring you more on that soon. Thy Maryan for me is one those producers who understands music and understands the fine line between making what they (the producer) like and what the audiences like to hear, that understanding allows him to create something like Energize, a track that conforms to what the audience likes to hear yet stands out as unique, like a pair of Nike iDs, the shape is the same, but the colour, contrast and detail is one of a kind, That is what Thy Maryan brings to producing with Energize to add to his collection.

Without a doubt, Thy Maryan possesses the ability to be one of the most successful producers from the UK, with a sound that appeals to a global audience, expect to read more reviews as I expect to hear more hits from the FrSH producer.
