Many of you may remember them from one of the previous ‘UK..stand Up’ segments, well they’re back with a new club banger, Emergency’.
Nu Brand Flexx bring a lot of flavour and colour to their music, as you can tell from the videos, they have a style of their own, this is evident from this record. It is not serious or sensitive, it is a feel-good track, one for the ‘skankers’, those that just want to enjoy themselves and have fun, put it in your playlist as you get ready for a night out, or request your DJ to play it when you’re in the club, either way you will be dancing away, enjoying yourself.
Look out for more smashes from the Nu Brand Flexxx collective, the talent is there, the determination and desire is as well, so expect big things from the guys.
The much hyped collaboration finally leaks, since some information regarding tracklisting for their upcoming album ‘Til The Casket Drops’ had surfaced on the internet, there was a lot of interest in this one (even though there was a Kanye West collabo too), after Kinda Like A Big Deal ft. Kanye West was released, Popeye’s was all that people could talk about.
Dipset general Cam’ron had turned down the chance to work with the Clipse before, when invited to feature on the remix for their anthem ‘Grindin’, however now seems to be the time, many may expect a lot more, but I think the real Hip-Hop (or general Clipse/Cam’ron) fan will appreciate this for it’s classic rap feel.
Produced by The Neptunes and featuring a hook from Pharrell Williams, this track was created especially for this concept, The Neptunes have always known how to bring the best out of the Clipse, even though they are capable to shine just as well on a Justice League, Timbaland or Kanye West beat (I beleive Pusha T is one of the few emcees that could hold his own on a Dr Dre beat), there is a present chemistry between the two and this is obviously evident with this. So, once again the Clipse have not dissapointed, ‘fly-talk’, slick word-play, they possess it all and bring it to the table with this, an extra-dimension is offered with the feature provided by Cam’ron, “I’m Pharrell (for real) with the Clipse (clips)”, is one of the lines as he provides a classic Killa Cam flow, his presence is felt on the track and helps round this record up with the appeal of a classic song.
The Clipse’s third album ‘Til The Casket Drops’ is tipped to be another classic, with features from Keri Hilson, Kanye West & more, expect more anthems from Clipse and the whole Re-Up gang.
The first single to be released off his third album ‘Graffiti’.
With the critics and haters working over time on Chris Brown since his situation with Rihanna, there is a lot of pressure on him, however with the help of other artists, the pressure is being eased, this time comes Lil’ Wayne is called into action and he delivers like only he can, with two verses, Swizz with a monster beat, expect a good video and Chris Brown will be back on top again in no time, R. Kelly went into work mode and locked himself in the studio when his ‘video’ incident emerged, he was behind every single major hit of that year and you could not criticize the man that was behind all your favourite songs, so Chris can come through, the Rihanna situation is behind him now, he can now concentrate on what he does best and this song will no doubt be another success for him, so the future is once again bright for the man Lil’ Wayne refers to as the New Michael Jackson (much to Omarions dismay).
Update:
Since the tracks release, it has shot up the charts, to cement this return, a video has been shot and some images have surfaced, have a look, what do you think?
I bought you the exclusive news that they were making a comeback and here it is, England’s finest collective are back by public demand with their first offering, Since U Went Away:
Featuring Megaman, Lisa Maffia and Romeo, This is the first release from the new So Solid Crew album, a more mature sounding So Solid, after speaking to Megaman he mentioned this being a personal album, he wanted to answer the fan’s questions and deliver something they will appreciate, something they have been asking for. Seems like they are on the right track, I like this, Megaman still has the lyrical ability that many looked over as well as an on point flow, First Lady, Lisa Maffia’s vocals are sounding stronger than ever, then the ladies favourite..Romeo with a nice verse, they all sound good and it looks promising for the So Solid crew upon their much awaited return.
The video is a good look, it looks fun more than anything, I am gutted that I could not go to the shoot due to prior commitments but it is balanced with the joy to see the outcome of the video being a success along with the song itself, featuring cameos from Comedians Kojo and Kevin J, as well as members of both So Solid Crew and D-Fam.
Despite their success, they remain humble and I cannot help but to feel proud for all they have acheived and will continue to do so, they have opened many doors and elevated the scene to bigger heights.
Well well well, hot off the press, comes the answer to who this track will belong to, seems like Gucci Mane gets this monstrous offering from Timbaland, it is from a mixtape so I do not know if it is official or not, however seems so to be Gucci Mane’s at the moment.
I am not too sure about this, I prefer hearing the solo Drake version, despite it being short, I like Killer Mike, so it is not all bad and Gucci Mane currently has quite the hype, however I honestly feel that this beat if restricted to just a mixtape has not been served justice, if anything new comes up regarding this beat, be sure that OneFaris will bring it to you.
A song that most artists would be too scared to create, let alone shoot a video and release, Lipsin Ting is becoming an anthem (if it has not already).
Produced by Skepta, This track just possesses such a party vibe, people can take it how they want, the beat to me is nice and find the hook catchy, I applaud Scorcher for making such a track, as many artists would turn their heads to the idea. After interviewing Scorcher (interview coming soon) is when I first heard of this track and originally I did not understand what direction Scorcher was going in, he had Dark Knight (classic track), which is one of my favourite songs of his, however, it did not take long for me to one day listen to it and think, “this is kind of good”, so I started listening to it more often, then you find yourself singing it at random times, it just happens to have a carnival-like feeling, sometimes we do not want to hear something too serious, complex or emotional, we just like a good song that you can move to. It also shows the diversity that Scorcher offers as an artist, coming from the Grime scene can at times offer a restriction of creativity (due to the demand of fans), however with Scorcher knowing where he comes from, he can go wherever he pleases as his music always portrays his roots, he stays true to himself and that allows him to effortlessly transcend through genres and styles of production.
Towards the end of this video was a big surprise for me, a clip of the video for Dark Knight, you see the transition, similar to that of Bruce Wayne & Batman, I definitely look forward to the entire video.
Lipsin Ting continues to rise in popularity with already over 100,000 views on youtube, a good look for Scorcher aka Skywalker, whos album Concrete Jungle (released Nov 9th) is a highly anticipated release.
Scorcher - 'Concrete Jungle' ..OUT 9TH NOVEMBER!!
Bonus:
Scorcher – Gangsta
Banned from TV, this one is for the hardecore fans, Grime and Rap fans alike will appreciate this one more.
With new leaks from Timbaland’s camp, it is rumoured that these tracks are from Timbaland’s upcoming project. As a Timbaland fan, I have been looking forward to hear his new sound, he emerged in dominant fashion with his last surge of hits with Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake and Madonna, however since then he was quiet, only for his production contribution towards Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3, tracks such as Off That ft. Drake and Venus & Mars showed some promise, a lot of the original Timbaland fans began to hope that he is back to changing the game again, even I hoped, until I heard this snippet:
Sounding like a classic Timbaland, back to doing what he does best, the clever thing about this production is the use of sounds, the organs happen to be the same sounds used for Madonna’s 4 minutes ft. Justin Timberlake. It is the kind of beat to put fear into other producers, the kind of production that will inspire how most of the songs will sound, as many attempt to emulate. Toronto’s Drake had worked with Timbo for Jay-Z’s album already, but he only featured on the chorus, so this snippet is an exclusive to the industry, Drake seems to do no wrong at the moment, this is one of my favourite tracks from him already and I have not even heard it all.
Here are the other leaks:
I like it, but more for concept that production, two artists of such status should create better, good but not great.
It is different, more catering his Pop audience, I am hoping that these leaks are to generate interest and that there is more to come, I am not in anyway saying that they are bad, I just personally feel that he can do a lot better.
Who knows, with time, I may have one of these on repeat.
Consider this a OneFáris Throwback track, A classic, which has been sampled twice by Kanye West for Twista – Overnight Celebrity and Jin – I Got A Love, as well as by Mobb Deep on their track Nothing Like Home and the most recent by Scarface for Girl You Know featuring Trey Songz.
I had not heard this in a very long time, I had heard the sampled tracks more in recent times and always felt that there was a familiar sample, I just never looked into it, then funnily enough Lil’ Wayne states (during an interview) that it is his most personal song, so naturally I found myself listening to it again, sounding just as amazing as the first time all those years ago, the samples all became ever so clear, at times you feel that they shadow the songs own beauty but Lenny Williams’ strong vocals and the passion he sings with soon eliminate such thoughts and you begin to enjoy the song for all it’s worth.
I understand that such songs do not deliver in the charts, but people should support even more, in order to encourage people to create such quality, it is this kind of originality that inspires someone such as Robin Thicke to make the music he does.
‘Cause I Love You is a timeless classic, a track that should and will be enjoyed and appreciated whilst also being Lil’ Wayne’s most personal song.
This should be the Nigerian national team’s track when they walk out onto the peach of any game, they should definitely listen to this in the changing rooms, they will not need any encouragement, the feeling of this song would do it all.
Mark Henry has been in the scene for a while, respected for his abilities, he was at times shadowing fellow emcee Sincere, however of late the two have been a tag-team in the industry and raising their status, Mark Henry steps into the spotlight for this one, displaying the reasons he is regarded as one of the best emcees, he enlists the help of G-FrSH for that extra dimension, a star in his own right, G-FrSH has proved that he is one of, if not the best entrepeneur, this year he has proved he is also one of the best rappers, Tinie Tempah (now a Major recording artist) takes the track somewhere else, he is the perfect example of variation, he provides his fast flow and witty lyrics setting up the flamboyant Bigz, who just unleashes his Nigerian passion onto the beat, the beat itself (which is co-produced by Mark Henry) is extremely catchy, fusing a modern and traditional sounds, it is done well, and even if you’re not Nigerian you cannot help but to like this. Flygerian also features mr ransom himself, the young Dotstar aka Lagos Boy, who provides a verse for the younger audience, this offers the track as a whole a lot of diversity and range, I was dissapointed that the original casting was not kept, which had SAS in place of Dotstar, but maybe the song would have too long, either way, this is a unifying classic, with an entertaining video, directed by Jak FrSH, capturing their modern lifestyles with their traditional values, the eagle is an immense addition, an overall great offering.
This is my favourite track from Wiley’s mainstream release ‘See Clear Now’.
It is something different from Wiley but different is expected on this album as it is his far more commercial sounding compilation, although this track possesses a mainstream feel with a Grime centre, the core of the song is the presence of both Wiley and Scorcher, Their concept of the ‘hardworking’, whether on the street struggling to make ends meet or working a 9-5 plus overtime is emphasised with their real determination and desires, most evident with Scorcher who despite his talents is yet to be embraced by the mainstream, make this a late release accompanied by a video directed by Scorcher himself (he is now directing as part of his Staple House productions) and this could get a look from the mainstream, some conversation even if not a hug. Although Scorcher’s verse is short for my liking, it is quality, “5am and I can’t sleep, It’s been the same for the past week”, he displays all his qualities as an artist in a verse that took him five minutes to create (without even writing anything down!). Jake Gosling creates an emotion-filled composition, from the sounds chosen for the kick, to the arrangement of the overlapping melodies, combined with the contrasting vocals on the chorus, he creates a classic sounding instrumental on which both emcees do justice. Wiley sounds like a man in power, his belief of his position in the scene is evident in his tone and in the confidence and assurance with which he delivers his verse, his flow is serious which helps get his message across, he captures your attention which provides good variety as Scorcher brings you along to a moment in his life, providing a lyrical image, this keeps the song consistance and prevents it from being repetetive.
5am has a lot of potential, just like producer Jake Gosling who will no doubt receive the accolades he deserves if he continues to create such brilliance, Scorcher’s talents are ever present and it is only a matter of time before he gets his due credit, collaborations such as this will no doubt help, continuing to help the scene progress Wiley at times seems like he can do no wrong, a great track from a great album, especially if you find yourself working/hustling/grinding at 5am.
